The benefits of eggs have been well known for centuries, and the best part about them is that there are so many different ways to consume them! Here are six reasons you should start eating eggs on a regular basis, whether they’re in the form of an omelet, soft-boiled, or in something like a quiche. If you’re not currently including eggs in your diet, you may want to consider adding them soon!

1) Eggs are high in protein
One of the helath benefits of eggs is that they are high in protein. Protein has been shown to improve satiety and promote weight loss when consumed for breakfast. If you’re looking to lose weight, consider swapping out your typical cereal or bagel for an egg white omelet, which packs about half as many calories and twice as much protein. They also contain other essential nutrients, including vitamins A, D, B-12 and riboflavin (B-2) which are great for your health and energy levels.

2) Eggs Contain Lutein and Zeaxanthin
Lutein and zeaxanthin are two antioxidants that can build up in the eyes. These antioxidants are believed to protect against certain eye diseases, including cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

In one experimental study , consuming one and a half egg yolks per day for about five weeks was found to raise the level of lutein and zeaxanthin in the blood by 28-50% and 114-142% respectively.

3) Eggs are high in omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are excellent for your cardiovascular health and help to keep your blood pressure at a healthy level. High levels of omega-3 fatty acids also reduce your risk of heart disease, so it’s no surprise that researchers have found that people who eat two eggs a day reduce their risk of heart disease by 5 percent compared to those who only eat one egg per week.

It’s not just a benefit for adults-research shows that babies who are given three eggs a day grow up with fewer cholesterol problems than other children. They are an excellent addition to any diet!

4) They are an excellent source of vitamin D
Cholesterol levels are known to rise when you consume too many calories and unhealthy fats. Eggs, on the other hand, contain beneficial nutrients that lower cholesterol. Consuming eggs also helps your body absorb more of these healthy vitamins.

Research even suggests they may be able to protect against heart disease-and even reduce your chances of dying from a stroke or heart attack.

5) They have nutrients that help lower cholesterol
Eggs are an excellent source of vitamins B2, B12, and D, as well as lutein and zeaxanthin which help keep your cholesterol levels at bay. Many people who have high cholesterol stay clear from eggs since thye are high in cholesterol, but eating foods that contain cholesterol does not actually have an effect on your cholesterol levels.

Research shows that eggs are actually great at reducing bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol. This protects your heart against diseases rather than making matters worse.

6) They may lower the risk of heart disease
Not only do eggs have a significant amount of cholesterol, but they also provide nutrients that may protect your heart. The American Heart Association (AHA) says an egg can serve as part of a healthy diet and recommends eating up to two eggs per day as part of a diet low in saturated fats.

7) May lower risk of diabetes
Eggs are loaded with nutrients and protein, so it comes at no surprise that eating eggs in moderation can help reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes. In fact, a study published in Diabetes Care showed that egg eaters who ate four to six eggs per week had a 34 percent lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than people who avoided eggs.
